One of the greatest benefits of being involved in network marketing is the personal growth that has taken place in my life. This business model is not about sales, it’s about growing personally, becoming a better version of yourself, and helping others achieve the same.
Over the past few years, I have focused on my thinking and changing my mindset. You see, I used to be a “the glass is half empty” type of thinker and it was affecting my relationships, my faith, and my business. With the nudge of a good friend and some helpful mentors, I have learned to focus my attention on better thinking. Reading professional growth books, listening to influential podcasters, and taking online coaching courses, I can happily admit that I am now a “the glass is half full” thinker.
You see, changing your mindset is one of the greatest ways to increase joy in your life. It spills over into your marriage, your parenting skills, your relationships with friends, and definitely your business. When others see that you have a heart of gratitude and joy, they are attracted to you. They feel confident in allowing you in, knowing that you will add value to their lives.
I recently found myself falling into the same parenting patterns with my 13-year-old as I did with my 23 and 25-year-olds Same patterns, getting the same results, even though I was hoping for different outcomes. Parenting a teenager can be exhausting and overwhelming: mood swings, challenging authority, disrespectful tone, and flat-out defiance, all wrapped up in a gangly, awkward body and need for wanting to still receive love and affection from parents. This time will be different! I am choosing to change my thinking, consult with a counselor, and read some helpful parenting books to give me the skills I need to be a more effective parent. I want to thrive with my son during these teen years, not struggle and wait it out, knowing he’ll grow out of it eventually.
I challenge you to try it! Be proactive in changing your mindset: follow Danelle Delgado or Bob Heilig. Choose one of their podcasts to listen to daily. Read any one of John Maxwell’s books, or my favorite, The Energy Bus, by Jon Gordon. And most importantly, wake up each day and write down 10 things that you are grateful for in-depth. Write out why you are grateful for it and how it improves your life each day. I guarantee you will begin to see a difference in your life.
Mindset matters. If you want to move forward in any aspect of your life, it’s time to ditch the old negative self-talk and “stinkin’ thinkin’ ”, and develop a new one! What’s one small step you can take today towards improving your mindset?
